Does the factory alarm lock/unlock the door with any sound. Mine does the job but is totally slient. I cannot tell whether the remote is working or not. Thanks for any advice.

Check your owner's manual. My '98 van has a remote sequence that turns on and off the confirmation horn honk, which is detailed in the manual.
