I've tracked the problem down to a couple of things, spark control computer (SCC) or something in the distributor. The MIL flashes a 1 - 1 code for "No ignition reference signal" and is further described as "No distributor reference signal detected during engine cranking". There is no 12V at the coil during cranking and of course no spark. My evil Haynes manual describes a test for ruling out the SCC but maybe the Hall Effect switch unit in the distributor is the culprit. Seems as though these things just up and quit one day without any warning. Car has 114K miles on it. Any opinions?
