92 Dodge Shadow timing belt...

At what mileage should the timing belt be replaced in this car? Just rolled over 60,000 miles last week. Doesnt say (that I can find) anything about it in the owners manual. Used 90% for highway driving, in excellent shape. Thanks

You're about due now. If it breaks, the car will stop but the engine will not be trashed.

Generally you want to replace a timing belt between 50-80K miles. Since you do a lot of Highway driving it would be a good idea to replace it now since those 4 cyl engines(assuming it is a 4 cyl) run a little fast on the highway. Nothing is worse than a broke timing belt!

Good Luck! Nick

50K is wastefully early.

We're talking about a '92 Shadow. I can think of a great many failures worse than a broken timing belt on a '92 Shadow, which has a non-interference engine.

Thanks for all the replies. First of next month I'll see about getting it replaced.
