92 grand caravan w/3.3L, install a tach?

as the subject says, i have a 92 grand caravan with a 3.3 liter V6, and i would like to install an aftermarket tachometer. but any that know that engine know that it has a distributer-less ignition system (IOW, no single tack signal). i was wondering if there was a signal somewhere in this van that i could tap into, without too much extra work (like building an adapter circuit).

failing that, is there a schematic of a circuit i could build to get a tach signal?

i am aware that there is a tach signal from the crankshaft sensor, but i believe this is a lower voltage, and most likely digital, so i didn't want to make a circuit without first knowing if it could handle the extra current draw without tripping the auto-shutdown circuit. thanks in advance for any help.
