'96 Stratus: key broken off in ignition switch

Our teenager has managed to break off the key in the ignition switch of our '96 Stratus. Is there any simple way to deal with this situation? We have plenty of spare keys, but how do we get the broken part out? I hope there's a DIY method.

Note: The key broke far enough inside that it's still possible to get just enough of the "top" end of the key in the lock to turn it.

Hi...

If there's that much still inside, wonder if you couldn't grab a bit of it with a tiny pair of tweezers?

If the cylinder can be turned, you can remove the steerign shroud covers, remove the ignition lock assembly which is very easy to do. Then on a bench turn the lock to the off position and tap the lock on a bench and the key will come out. My lock pick set has a special tool that will remove the broken key. A lock smith would have this same tool.

good luck

A drop of one second glue??

Aforementioned teenager suggested that himself, but I thought there was too much danger of gluing everything in the lock.

A very small screwdriver and skinny tweezers did the trick.
