Bulbs in 200 Cirrus HVAC panel

I understand that there are two types of HVAC control panels for my

2000 Cirrus.

One is where the face can be removed, and the bulbs replaced, and the other is a sealed unit.

I have not yet tried to remove it, but I noticed that there are clips holding the face in place. Is this a good indicator that the face can be removed to replace the bulbs?

I understand that new HVAC panels are $100+ at the dealer.

I am going to try to remove it this weekend, to see how far I get.

This is not an everyday job for me and there are so many different controls heads out there it would be hard for me to say unless I looked at it. Normally a person that is mechanically inclined can figure it out by looking at it.

I am going to try it this weedend then. I will remove the unit, remove the knobs, and then try to un-clip and remove the face. I guess that I will find out. I was just hoping to be able to identify and *non- serviceable* unit from a *serviceable* one, before proceeding further.

My suggestion would be to take the vin number to the dealer and see if the bulbs are available for your vehicles control head. if the bulbs are available then you know it can be done!!

Thanks again Glenn. That will save a lot of work. I didn't know that they could tell by the VIN.
