Electronic issues; linking lights and locking and unlocking door locks

Hi,

I have some strange goings on with my electrical or electronic systems in my

2000 Dodge Grand Caravan.

Upon starting my car the ABS brake light came on and stayed on. After making sure the brakes were okay I drove the car about ten miles. During the drive I had three or four episodes, each lasting about ten to fifteen seconds, of the doors locking and unlocking rapidly, the "door ajar" light blinking, and the map lights also blinking. It's possible that this was going on in unison, but I don't remember for sure. This "blinking" behavior seemed to occur at about the same time as slowing to a stop and then again when I accelerated; it appeared to be somewhat related, then, to the small g-forces inherent in starting and stopping.

When I shut off the engine and then restarted right away, the ABS light lit normally and briefly in the diagnostic mode, and then stayed off. Also no repeat episodes of the strange "blinking" behavior. I have had two other restarts of the car over a period of 24 hours with no further problems.

The only thing that I did a day before this started was to have my car washed. It froze that evening and the problems occured when I started it the next day.

I would appreciate any ideas about what might be going on.

Thanks.

Bill

Hard to say for sure, but often when multiple systems are affected simultaneously, the problem is a ground connection that is corroded.

I've had the problem before, it happened after I reached 10mph, which if I'm not mistaking is the speed at which the doors lock. The problem I had was with a bad sliding door sensor. The sensor worked but needed a shim on the face to depress the sensor fully. Jim
