HELP! 1989 chrysler new yorker prob!!!

I have an 89 NY'er Landau (the V6 3.0) its idling VERY rough, and im getting a bit of black exhaust out of tailpipe and rough starts and stalling and strangely it does this on right hand turns as well as upon startup. Also,if ireallyfloor he gas pedal in park t sounds as though it is misfiring at high RMPS.am i just in need of a tune up? only fault code im getting is 34 which is some kind of speed sensor near the tranaxle according to haynes guide, but my friend replaced that about 6 months ago-seems prmature for failure you would think? Any and all help greatly appreciated!THANKS

I forgot to tell you to also check the fuel pressure and the fuel pressure regulator. If you remove the manifold vacuum hose from the regulator the fuel pressure should increase about 10 psi. If it don't either your vacuum hose is broken or the regulator is broken. Do this several times with the car running to make sure the regulator is not sticking.

First off, throw your Haynes book in the trash; it's telling you lies (which is completely standard with Haynes books). Code 34 has to do with the cruise control.

Secondly, what's needed is proper diagnosis. It may be something to do with your MAP sensor or the hose and pipework leading to it, but guessing at it will cost you money.
