Re: 2002 Dodge Caravan - Needs new brake pads

I'm going to replace the pads on my van. What would you recommend I use?

The rotor are not scored. Should I resurface them?

> Thanks

Leave the rotors alone. OEM and name brand pads work well in this application. I put on a set of high performance pads from Tire Rack. These are described as follows: Pro Ceramic disc brake pads feature ceramic friction formulations designed to deliver quiet, comfortable braking with minimal dust and reduced rotor wear for late model vehicles. Using D3EA® testing, Satisfied Brake Products has developed ceramic formulations that reduce heat generation while in use and cool down more quickly when the brake pedal is released. Pro Ceramic disc brake pads are formulated with corrosion-free characteristics and generate less dust to help maintain wheel appearance. Pro Ceramic disc brake pads feature GridLoc Technology to bond the friction material to the backing plate to eliminate torque shear and heat separation.

I find no dust or noise at all, but when cold (typical for street use), the pads take extra effort. If dust free is not a must try any quality OEM type pad.

If the pads that came with the van worked well for you, stick with those.

I wouldn't. No need to resurface if they are not scored.
