Re: Ericsson R520m with UConnect on T-Mobile

I just talked to the Mopar service center for the UConnect system. It turns out that the UConnect is compatible with only four phones! The list that they say is the SonyEricsson T68i, Nokia 3650 and 6310i, and Siemans S56. This is not on either the Mopar or Chrysler web sites. You don't find out until you buy the product, have it installed, and call the help line. I've even have purchased the Nokia 3650 instead of the R520m had I known. I got the van before I ordered the phone. This is the description from the web site:

UConnect Hands-Free System: includes a small control pad, microphone, speaker, module and wiring harness. UConnect utilizes Bluetooth technology which requires a Bluetooth Hands-Free Profile wireless phone.

Am I missing something here? I have a Plantronics hands-free that works fine with the phone and one of the profiles is "port h-free". I would take h-free to mean hands free, so it would appear to be compatible from what the add says.

Am I really missing something here?? Or was I just taken for a ride. By Chrysler.

I've not been able to get my Ericsson R520m phone to use the UConnect > Bluetooth hands-free in my new Chrysler Town & Country. I've got the R2 > firmware in the phone. Well, IMHO, Bluetooth was designed to be just that BLUETOOTH. Intercompatibilty between Bluetooth devices is one of the built in prerequisites of the Bluetooth doctrine. But I will say that using a r520m, which was one of the original commercialy available phones with Bluetooth, and that had problem after problem with different compatibility issues when it first came out, I would definitely get the last flash for it, and also consider something a little newer Bluetooth Phone wise before I throw my hands up in disgust
