Transmission won't engage

On my 2002 Town and Country with 71000 miles.

Driving on the highway the torque converter disengaged never to fully engage again. When stopped, if I put it back in gear it would go a few feet and then disengage completely.

I'm seeing codes like P0700,P0601, P1698 All relating to transmission control failure and TCC/PTU solenoid.

I'm basically debating if I should pursue checking electrical connections and TCC solenoid replacement or if history has shown this to be that the torque converter is shot. The fluid is clean does not smell and is up to level. Prior to the problem I noticed some hard down shifting and late lockup.

Any insight would be appreciated.

TIA, Chris

To me this means after a few feet the car won't move. If that's the case, then it's nothing you can fix. The solenoid only comes into play when you're going 50 miles per hour. All the electronic controls can fail, and it'll still move, quite well in fact.

It may well be the torque converter got chewed up inside. If that's the case then the tranny will come out, and you'll have to make a decision about rebuilding it while it's out.
