recently bought this car. It has excessive tappet noise,does anyone know the cheapest remedy.

It'd also help if you describe the noise in a bit more detail - My '96 Turbo petrol had what could well have been confused for tappet noise, much worse on the power, virtually inaudible off the power - it turned out to be the exhaust manifold gasket. BIG job.
