Insurance again.

The SD1 insurance is due at the end of this month, and I'm presently with Lancaster. But I'll go with what appears the best value than simply renewing. My main car is with Direct Line, so I thought I'd give them a try. They give a discount for 'second' cars - and you get a second no claims - unlike classic policies. Like for like they were about 50 quid cheaper. No agreed value - but then I doubt this means what it says on the tin.

I insured mine on an agreed value, with supporting club valuation sheet, and I was told recently that if that valuation was higher than their own specialists valuation of my car, the payout would be their specialists value, not what we agreed. I was astounded to hear this, not least because the premium is based on the value we agreed (base price, plus £x per thousand pound value) so I felt that if they accepted the higher valuation they should pay out on it.

Got the documents through from DL - and they're asking for proof of no claims. Which of course I don't have as the car has been on various classic policies for several years. Will be an interesting phone call. ;-)
