We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold. I remember "Barspeed1975" saying something like:

Will you f*ck off?

I agree.

Abuse report sent to eBay.

Spam? ...This guy is selling relevant material... Is he not?

He could have just put a link to a webshite full of his spam, but no, he chose to put loads of links to the s**te he's selling instead.

If he'd said "If anyone's interested, I've got a load of old s**te for sale, here's the ebay number for one of the bits of tat, if you search for other things I'm selling you'll see the rest of my s**te" then at least he'd be being honest.

Oh, actually taking part in the group instead of just trying to flog s**te would possibly help.

eBay themselves have a specific policy on advertising through usenet.

"eBay users may not post on Usenet groups (Internet newsgroups) to advertise eBay or an eBay listing that is inappropriate or violates the Usenet board policy. ...

We have no tolerance for UseNet abuse and will take action as appropriate."

There may be a group that is dedicated to advertising private sales but this simply isn't it.

To question if it is spam if the material is relevant... If it is unsolicited and sent by email to promote a commercial venture it is spam.

Irrelevant. Look at the link. eBay (rightly) do NOT like people spamming auctions. The charter for the group also (IIRC) forbids it.

How many people are selling classic car material on fleaBay at the moment? Thousands. What would happen to this newsgroup if EVERY ONE of them posted a link to their auction here?

If somebody wants to buy a brochure for a 1942 Throgmorton Whippet, then fleaBay's website is hardly difficult to search. You can create and save repeating searches, too, which email you the result.

Do you have a brochure for a 1942 Throgmorton Whippet?

The one with the twin overhead crankshaft, seven piston, diesel two stroke engine and preselect indicators?

From the charter:

"Advertising Lengthy and or off- topic posts will not be welcome. Short (i.e. 10 lines max.) announcements of relevant products, services and events, inviting e-mail inquires or suggesting URLs for further information, will be allowed. If traffic is heavy enough, uk.cars.classic.forsale might be created at some future date."

All contructive critisms welcome. Ebay consulted, clarrified and negotiated. I wont post anymore, simply done with no unnessarsary swearing or bad mouthing. I think people do forget that politeness and courtesy will get people further than just saying "FUCK OFF"?

I do hope your brochures have better spelling than your posts.

Ah, designed by the same Malaysian chap who did the Spagthorpe "Ferret" V3?

Works in the sense of making the world a less pleasant place. Yup.

Curiously the one post that has been completely ignored is the gentleman who quoted the newsgroup's actual charter. I would agree that the post does not comply with the charter, whereas a short announcement of the existence and nature of his business would.

Like I GAF. Maybe it's escaped your notice, but the world's always been a pretty nasty place and presence of a few 'f*ck offs' on usenet is going to make no difference to that.

The OP is a brainless clown who, afair, has done similar before and simply regards urcc as a personal advertising space for his junk. One gets tired of it.

Btw, snip sigs and get a sig sep of your own.

Or, alternatively, "ETypeHireBod" could just f*ck off.
