Does it have to be F1? Quite a lot of them tend to be ummm.. rather valuable! Owners might be a little reluctant to let Joe public & the kiddies crawl all over 500k's worth!

IIRC, you're quite near to Hassocks in W.Sussex. There is (was?) a guy based there who deals in various single-seat formula cars by the name of Chris Alford, he might be able to give some helpful pointers.

Static display models don't have any of the engine gubbins in them. You can buy them for about £25k.

Try the motor museum in Coventry, also Browns Lane Jaguar plant have some kit.
