Rolls/Bentley V8 Starter motor

Anyone have any information, ie diagrams/workshop manual for the starter motor on an early Rolls 6.3 or 6.75 V8.

I have a 1963 Bentley SII for which I need to re-assemble the starter, but there is no information in the RR workshop manual on this starter, only the earlier IOE six engine. It's based on a Lucas M45G, but has an eccentric pin to adjust the throw of the gear. A dis-assembly diagram would be usefull as well, in case any of the parts are missing on mine.

I don't know if the Shadow/T-series have the same starter on them, but if anybody has a workshop manual for a Shadow/T-series I would be most gratefull for a copy of the relevant bits.

I can't help you with Rolls/Bentley information

- but - The starter motor on the Triumph 2.5PI is a Lucas M418G which has a similar description, a pre-engaged starter with an eccentric pin to adjust. If you find you are really stuck, you are welcome to those pages. The diagrams might be close enough for you to work out how to reassemble the one you have got. Hopefully someone will have Rolls/Bentley information, but if you want my Triumph stuff, just ask.

The Rolls-Royce Owners Club of Australia put our RREC to shame in many ways, not least their willingness to share information.

Fantastic! Many thanks. I now have the diagrams and information I need from the Shadow/T workshop manual. Certainly easier than getting the information out of the RREC, especially on a Bank Holiday!
