Which was the most recent British car to have a starting handle as standard?

dixthewiz ( snipped-for-privacy@delaney85.fsnet.co.uk) gurgled happily, sounding much like they were saying :

British made, or British available?

If the latter, then almost certainly 2cv in 1990.

I should think British Made would be the Landrover Series III, which had a starting handle up untill 1983.

I don't know wether the 90/110 came with the option of a starting handle, but certainly by the Defender in 1987 it had gone.

Early 110s certainly had a handle, as did 90s (IIRC!). The Range Rover had a handle at one stage, but that went some time in the 80s - maybe with the EFi models (it had certainly gone by the time they made mine in '90).

For imported, the last-to-have-one might be the Hindustan Ambassador, which was imported for a while in the 1990s.

Mm. Early carb v8's had a handle (including the 101) but they were a bugger to start on it. I only have parts manual for Defender 87-on, which clearly shows no provision for a starting handle, so i don't know when it was deleted. I imagine the advent of the 2.5petrol and

2.5 diesel killed it off, the 2.25 diesels were hard enough to start on a handle as it was.
