1996 Clutch Switch Issue

I have a 96 with an LT4. Lately when the ignition key is turned the car won't always start. I think it is the clutch safety switch since the last time it didn't start, I didn't release the pressure on the ignition but I released the clutch and then pushed it back and it fired right up. Another time it wouldn't start and I released the pressure on the ignition, pumped the clutch a couple of times, turned the ignition and it fired right up.

Questions...

Sound like a clutch switch to everyone else or is there something else I might be missing?

If it's the switch is there a relatively easy fix or easy way and place to bypass (I'm the only driver and am not worried about forgetting to push in the clutch before starting it up)?

Am I correct in assuming the switch is at the top of the clutch pedal and I'll have to dislocate several joints to work on it?

Any help is appreciated.

Fix it, no matter how good you are at remembering to push the clutch in it's going to catch you sooner or later. Both my '50 Chevy and the '64 Corvette have no ignition lock out on them and ever now and then they will scare the hell out of me. Both will start and run very quickly and my biggest fear is hurting someone or poking the front of my car into a wall or another car.

Not that big a job and the switch cost >$30, Airtex part number

Most likely you'll have as much time in jumpering it out as you would to put in a new switch.
