'82 Collectors edition seat

I just bought my wife an '82 Collectors Edition, her dream car for the past 22 years. However, she is of small stature (5'3") and the seat reclines too much for her. We will try a pillow for now but would like a permanent solution. Is there anyway to modify the seat to make to not recline so much?

I would try removing the rear bolts that hold the seat in place and shim under the seat mounts until she is happy with the angle, then just reinstall the bolts. If they're now too short just replace them with longer ones. Brad

================ I could kick myself for not buying the "kit" someone was selling at Carlisle to allow the seats in the 78-82 cars to have adjustable seat backs.. This was maybe 10-12 or even 15 years ago... Needed many other oparts at the time and passed on buying it....Never saw the Vendor again....Darn

Anyway I still carry a 1 inch Open end wrench in my 79...its a big wrench ..maybe 8-9 inches in lenght... I place it between the seat back and the bottom of the seat and it gives "me" the angle I am comfortable with... I am 6'1 and the stock seat back is just as uncomfortable for me as it is your wife....leans back way too much...

The Wrench makes the angle just right...a 1/2 inch wide piece of plywood was not enough and a 1 inch wide pine board was too much...

Oh the things we put up with to drive our own cars... !

I certainly could be wrong about this, but I seem to recall that one could adjust the "bumpers" on the bottom of the back rest to change the seat-back angle???

Here's waving to ya - \||||

================= Yea...except when you look for the bumpers ..you can not find them...and the reason you can not find them is that there are NONE...

The 78 and 79 I know DO NOT HAVE any adjustment bumpers on the bottom of the seat Back... not use about the 80 thru 82 cars...

The designers who did the seats may have taken a long lunch break at the local Pub that day....
