New radio for C4 or fix Bose system

I am replacing the Bose system on my 90 Coupe; the reason, it stopped working

While the price of the new system and speakers is my choice, are the following also required?

Here's what I am looking at (these I know that it is a matter of preference): Eclipse system - 150 (on sale)

6 1/2 Kicker speakers (rear) - 200 5 1/4 Kicker speakers (front - 125

How about these: "Free installation" of the system, but Rewire to "bypass amp" - $180 Template - $20 (this I can see) Install both sets of speakers - $65 (isn't this part of rewiring, or does this refer to mounting?) Antennae adapter (I can see this) - $50 Wiring harness (I can see this) - $35

Overall, I am looking at about $1,000 to replace the existing Bose system with a new Eclipse/Kicker combination. How much will fixing the existing Bose system cost (do not have any idea why it is not working, and all I have done is check the fuses).

Existing wiring for Bose won't carry the current for regular speakers.

Probably a little of both

Probably not unreasonable if it sounds good to you.

How much will fixing the existing Bose system cost (do not

You can go to mid-america or ecklers for overhaul costs on head end and each of the four speaker-amp combos. You'll save a bit dealing directly with Bose specialists.

i went with a direct fit pioneer head unit and rockford fosgate speakers.. did the work myself for around $425.. put 6x9's in the rear and 5 1/4 in the front.. the 6x9 were a direct fit in the rear then put the bose covers over them.. in the front i left the bose enclosures and the 5 1/4 worked out wel and again reinstalled the bose cover.. l.. ran all new speaker wires so that if i wanted to go back to the origanal it would be plug and play.. also used a wal-mart stero plug to wire in the head unit..

Just noticed a web ad from Eckler's. Not enough details to tell what the product really is but it's a Pioneer head that's compatible with Bose wiring, amps and speakers. Might be worth calling them. Believe they wanted $ 150.
