Weekend

Best to all on this Memorial Day weekend.

Please drive a Chevy safely. Have a HotDog, some Potato Salad and a domestic beverage. (Apple pie is optional.)

Offer thanks for our troops and a wish or prayer for their safe return.

Regards.

Thanks. I got lucky and got a ticket to the party at the Team Chevy area tomorrow evening at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Our Corvette club got

8 tickets and my car was one drawn from the hat. There's going to be a cookout, prizes, special guests, and we get to drive our cars on the track for a couple laps. The weather is supposed to be real nice here tomorrow.

I was at the track today (it rained a lot, practice much shortened, no vintage car laps, no Indy Lights) and there was a blue ZR-1 on display along with all the usual suspects, several ZO6's, a C6R, examples of all the pace cars through the years....I was surprised at how large the 2009 Camaro looks. In length it has to be as big as the Malibu. It was on a carousel behind ropes and I couldn't get a good look at the interior. I didn't care for the exterior color, a sort of yellowish orange.

Find a nice safe place and act like a Hot-Dog by driving it as if you stole it (or are 3-payments behind)!

While I hope & pray for our Troops return to the drudgery & boredom of Garrison life. I'll be more satisfied if they are simply given the equipment they need to do their job, and the freedom to use it without being second-guessed by the Media.

Where did they find a big enough hat to get your car in?

Isn't that the usual "Known Associates" :)

May they not meet hom/her for many years to come. I hope that their is a fully stocked NCO/Officers Club on the other side of the pearly gates for those who enter before their time!

Given that I am both a Veteran, and retired Military with two Nephews in Theater -- I remember daily, not just one weekend a year that most people see as a reason for a BBQ and an extra day off of work.

Por Nada, but on a serious note I often wonder if what I did actually protected "OUR" Freedoms, or simply those in power.

Sorry for the semi-political rant, but I just recently had my "Free Medical Care for Life" deny a prescription I've been taking for years and expect me a Disabled Veteran to cough-up $921.00 for because some bean-counter thinks I don't need it.

So much for my payback. Again sorry, a tad grumpy & disillusioned today.

Well, the ticket was for the car, not the driver, but that's funny anyway.

It was a good time. There were over 300 Corvettes there. Police escort for the caravan to the track, good food and lots of it, a Q and A with Emerson Fittipaldi, a tour of the basement of the IMS museum where they keep a bunch of really nice machines - old cars, Indy cars of all vintages, NASCAR stockers, an example of every pace car, drag cars, too many items to inspect in the time we had.

I never knew they sold so many Z06 models. There were bunches of them in the group. Very few C1's or mid-years in the crowd. Maybe those owners don't drive them to things like that, but there weren't all that many C4's either.
