2002 GC transmission repair

My 2002 GC sports stopped in the middle of road. AAMCO inspected it, got 7 error code and going to rebuild it at around 2700 with 1 yr/12K warranty. Thinking about the resale value of this car, it's a huge amount of money. Actually, local repair shop was suggesting 2000 for replacement but I suspected they are using used one. I maybe am wrong. Anyway, I am debating whether I should sell the car after transmission repair before it breaks again and costs me a fortune(assuming rebuilt one doesn't last long). Any idea?

I don't do transmission work but you may want to check the dealer for a Chrysler reman part. Not sure about the total price but it will come with a

3/36 warranty.

If there is a worse transmission place out there than AAMCO, I would like to hear about iy. Those poeple are as bad if not worse than the BrakeO folks. I have the experiance too.

AAMCO said they do free checkup and I was naive to tow my car over there. Surely they did some computer checkup for free(any repair shop would do this for free) and called me saying that they need to open check the transmission with labor charge of $595. So checkup cost me $595, not free as their deceptive offer sounded. Next day, they called me about the cost of repair part and labor which added to 2700. I'm not saying it's expensive. Their way of handling customer is very deceptive. If you're going to repair transmission, dont' go to deceptive shop. Make sure they explain to you how they charge and you get worst case cost in total BEFORE they start any work on your car. Don't go to shop that try to be vague in answering your questions. I'd never go AAMCO again.
