2007 Ram 1500 steering concern

My son in law just picked up an 07 Ram 1500 Quad cab with the 4.7 engine and the other usual toys and 18" wheels. He has developed an annoying high frequency pulsation in the steering on the return whether stopped or at any speed where the wheel may be turned 1/2 turn or more. It cannot be felt until actually returning steering. Having had some experience over the years with hydraulics, it feels to me like the pressure regulator is chattering. Is this normal in these? I told him tonight that I would at least get the dealer to check it out since it has less than 2K miles on it. Has anyone else here noted this or have some idea what it may be? He is becoming a bit disappointed with the Ram since this will be his 4th visit to the dealer so far for problems. The first was a broken hose clamp that dumped all the coolant causing it to run hot the second day he had it.

Thanks
