99 Durango w/ Dana Front end

I am trying to remove the passenger side axel in order to replace the axel seal. The problem I am haveing is removing the spider gear shaft retaining pin. The book says to remove the bolt which holds the shaft in place. There is no bolt in the whole which holds the shaft in place. Instead it looks like there is a roll pin in the hole. I know some SPicer rear ends have had trouble w/ shearing the bolt off. This does not seem to be the case. Upon closer inspection it indeed looks like a roll pin. I have tried to remove this pin with a small punch. I can't get the punch to line up with the hole straight. The differential housing sticks out to far to get the punch to line up straight w/ the hole. What am I doing wrong and how do I remove the spider gear shaft. I need to do this so I can pull the axel out and replace the seal.
