exhaust ?

I was given a V6 dakota and the exhaust is all rusted to hell, and needs to be replaced. i dont no exactly what is required in an exhaust system and need some help on what i need. i was gonna put a Catback
and a Glasspack on so far, but im not sure if i need a Catalyic coverter or not. The glasspack was prob gonna ba a magnalfow and i have a stainless steal catback from another vehicle i had that no longer runs.i no i dont need a resonator and i want the truck loud but legal.

Well, as it is a Federal requirement to have a cat on the vehicle if it is to be a road use vehicle, yes, you must have a cat. If you live in a state that does emission tests, with out it, you will never pass. If you live in an area that does not emissions test and does not look at the exhaust system during inspections, you could get away with out one.
