Tell me about this truck

Bought a 01 Ram 1500 from my daughter, paid off her note. She bought it new, then later, incorporated the truck note as part of consolodation loan. I never owned a Dodge product before. She took good care of it. Vehicle has 92K on it. Has the V6 in it, auto tranny. The original owners manual is in the glove box (who puts gloves in there?). I'll be taking regular 5 mile trips to work, and back, everyday. The manual has 2 sets of maintenance guides, depending on the mileage you put on it on daily basis. One glaring difference is changing the lube in the rear axle much more often for low mileage daily driving. She says she's never had it changed. What's up with that regarding the axle lube stuff? Moisture in the air condenses as the air cools and will eventually lead to some water contamination in the rear end lube. Low mileage daily driving prevents the lube from reaching a temperature that allows the trapped water to cook off, therefore, more frequent lube changes are recommended.

Makes good sense to me. Thanks. Dave

No different from any other vehicle regular maintainance. I change my diff lube every 30k no matter what use is. Put in Royal Purple synth lube and be happy.
