I got me a new Stilo

Hey guys,

I've had a Punto Mia 1.2 for three years and decided to trade it in for a new Stilo 1.2 16v Active. Must say, love the looks and standard equipment of the Stilo. Gonna give a shout to my dealer in St. Helens... Forward Autos. They have been great over the last 3 years with my Punto and they are one of the reasons I stuck to a Fiat.

I have had one problem though, and it first reared it's ugly head on the drive home after picking it up. The car starts Beeping at me and says, "EBD Failure. ABS Failure. Stop Engine" on the dash display. Now I took it back that day and they hooked it up to the computer but the fault corrected itself without them doing anything to it. It's happened again tonight after

3 days of quiet. Now I'm confident that the dealer is going to sort it, they promised to rip out the unit and replace it or get me a new car, but has anyone else had this problem? and is it likely to be the same on a new car??

Thanks in advance etc....

Hi Andy!

Here's my own experience with this rather "pleasant to drive" however "totally unreliable" italian lady is (just for you to laugh, so unbelievable it is):

1)Replacement of the comodo (because of all kinds of warning signals suddenly flshing all the time) 2)GPS failure (soft & hardware) 3)"Debitmeter" dead (9'00 PM on the highway...) 4)Sudden airbag system failure(with those "stop everything" flashing alrms - Sunday evening on the Champs Elysées...) 5)Electric sunroof down (while rain started...) 6)Wiper failure (while under heavy rain on the highway...)

Conclusion: FIAT could continue to do mechanics & design, but definitively should stop doing sophisticated electronics.

I have noticed that many of the faults people complain about are on the more sophisticated Abarth. That'll teach 'em to be flash!!!!!! ;-)

Hi Darcy,

Well I picked my Stilo up from the dealer again today... the problem turned out to be a loose fuse in the engine bay fuse box. They reseated it more firmly and havn't heard a beep outta it yet, so fingers crossed.

Sorry to hear about all your problems, I hope that things get sorted soon.

my girlfriends stilo 1.6 multiwagon also suffers from the intermittant EBD / stop engine / abd failure message. We are about to take to the dealer to see if they will fix it under warranty. Something else has gone wrong as the engine wouldnt start today :-(

Exact same problem with my Stilo JTD. EBD Failure, ABS Failure etc etc. Originally I only got the ABS failure but now get both.

I got the ASR Fault message again just the other day. Restarted the engine and it was gone. It's not the first time. I've also had ABS Fault messages but I think that might have been because of lots of snow on the sensors or something.

Italians and electronics. They shouldn't try to build anything more advanced than egg clocks... No, offense to any Italians here. :-)

What is the brand of the electronics in your Stilo? "German perfection" Bosch, perhaps? I think so! :-))
