Sorry to hear about your grief. this could be one of several problems.

1-The steering lock mechanism is jammed 2-The key is bent or damaged,as far as I know there is no device in the switch that will prevent the removal of the key if the immoboliser is faulty. 3-The switch is damaged,is there any evidence that someone may have tried to steal the car.? you could try trickling some releasing fluid into the switch on both sides of the key with an aerosol and a narrow pipe but only a tiny amount. If that works,try using the spare key -you do have a spare key-(don't you)? to try starting the car but be careful putting the key into the switch as if the switch is damaged you are back to the stuck switch thing. If all fails get a good mechanic to take a look and he may have a solution. Best of luck-Torque.
