2001 door panel removal

I need to remove the drivers door panel on my 2001 camaro convertible to replace a speaker and service or replace the power window motor, but I want to do it right without breaking any of the clips. I read somewheres that the panel is shot if you do that. Any tips?

I do not know, but I have read that the clips are to be considered expendable and that you should figure on replacing them.

This would work as long as you line up with the clips.

This tool will still trash the clips!

The only tool I have found that even comes close to not trashing clips, is the Kent-Moore tool recommended by GM. but for $30.00, it works better than any other door pan removal tool I have.

I own them all, Steck: Snap On, K-D, Lisle, MAC (A repackaged Steck), Montana, and the all time winner Kent-More. It even works on Fords and Mopar products equally as well and takes off rice burner door panels like a dream.

So when you see your friendly GM parts man next time, ask him to order you a Kent-Moore door and trim panel remover.
