2nd gen spring rate

Anyone know what the front spring rate from a:

76 Camaro (non z28) and a 80 TA 301 (non ws6) would be? I have the TA springs and need to change balljoints on the camaro anyway.... (dirt track car...) but I'm not going to bother if the spring rate is basically the same...

That's a sticky one. There were dozens of spring combinations used depending on GVW and other factors.

I could probably find the part #s for them, but it would be a lot. If you buy a set of Moog springs, they consolidate some rates/ranges as well. Don't worry about it... unless the part # is cast on the spring somewhere I haven't gotta clue what they'd be and/or if the one in the camaro is even stock anymore...

Is there any way a DIYer can measure spring rate at home?

I actually have a list of all of Moog's spring rates by part # on my website if that helps any.

it would if I had Moog springs... which I don't. I'll look and see if I can't reverse engineer the part #'s into Camaro or TA spring rates...

I checked - it worked. :) Looks like the spring in there is either the same or slightly softer - I'll throw in my TA spring and see if it helps - apparently the racing springs are in the 1000+ in/lbs. rating, but I'm about out of money...
