88 Camaro- Won't Start:

My son's 88 Camaro(2.8L V6) will turn over but will not start. There is no spark at the spark plugs or the ignition coil output. We replaced the ignition coil, but no change.I checked the ignition pickup coil w/an ohmmeter - checks OK. Apparently this leaves the ignition control module that is buried in the distributor. Or does it? Anybody else ever experience this problem?

Any suggestions appreciated: Walt Barrer( snipped-for-privacy@aol.com)

Check the ignition pickup in the distributor closely. The terminals are known to spread, or the plug burn, as well as the wire fatigue.

Any of these cases results in no spark. Also, any alarm systems on this? Joe--ASE Certified Parts Specialist & 10th Ann.Club Tech Director '80 Carousel Red Turbo T/A, 27k orig. '79 "Y89" 400/4 speed 10th Ann. T/A, 57k orig '84 Olds 88 Royale Bgm 2 dr, 307 "Rocket" (lol), 143k and still going....
