Any 1970-73 Camaro Experts Here??

If so, I am hoping that someone can help me out. Can someone please tell me what those things are in the front nose of the car which is located between the headlights and the grill?? It looks like some kind of removable piece that slides in and out near the grill. What are they called and what is the purpose of them??

I was looking at a 1972 Camaro in my local car magazine, and whatever these things are, they were missing. There was just 2 holes there on each side of the grill.

Below is a link to a picture of a camaro that has them. Take a look. It is right in between the headlights and the upper grill and it looks like some kind of removable piece?? Does anybody know what these are??? Thanks!!!

Take a look at some more pics. I don't see what you are talking about. Check this page.

On cars with the standard full front bumper the marker lights are under the bumper. Split Bumper cars have the markers next to the headlamps. So what you are asking about are filler panels. Charles

Thanks for the info. but the part that I am talking about is located right next to the UPPER grill. Take a look at the link to the pic that I posted in my first message. Right next to the UPPER grill there is a piece that is in the shape of the letter "U" and it is facing sideways. It looks like some kind of pullout or removable panel???

Like I said before it is a filler panel. A lower nose headlamp filler panel. As far as I know it is not available separate from nose assemblies. There is no "pull" out panel on any GM vehicle.

As for being removable the adhesive, or fasteners used to attach it may be gone after 31 to 34 years. Especially if it is an aftermarket replacement nose.

If you go to:

and look under 1972 Camaro, then Front End & Lower Valance you will see a picture of the assembly. Charles

I think it's a filler panel.

It is not removable by itself. It is welded to the header panel. It is part of the header panel. Why are you so concerned with this particular area? All replacement header panels will have this part attached to it. If you have a dent or rust through in this area it is just a whole lot easier to replace the header panel with a replacement piece. The aftermarket header panels are pretty good quality.
