Interest in mid to late 3rd gen parts?

To all:

I keep seeing people ask for Third Gen parts. While I personally horde these parts, I have been thinking about ridding my self of 4 S-10's. To make room for 4 Third Gen parts cars. If I were to do so, I would need to be able to sell a cars worth of parts in two months to be economically viable. So the question is, is the demand here that great?

The week after thanks giving until February 1st is the best season for buying F-bodies. Third Gens are starting to get hard to find. Charles

Around here (Winnipeg) decent S10 parts are harder to come by than 3rd gen parts. Of course, I say that because I own an S15 and no 3rd gens. But, there's a guy not far from me who has 10 3rd gen parts cars. My buddy just picked up the serpentine brackets and pulleys for his Nova.

I couldn't even find an S10 in the junkyard to get a blower motor... Mine's mechanically sound, but rusty. Really rusty. Door skins held on with pop rivets rusty. ;)

If you drive here to Ohio, you could get about every thing you need parts wise to rebuild a bare shell. Charles

I'm looking for 82-84 Firebird parts right now. I'm starting to fix up the old

84 T/A.

I'd settle for a complete '82 Recaro T/A too :-)

Is ok. A 2.8 with almost 200k miles on it... when it finally dissolves in the snow I'm pulling the seats and rear end out of it and shredding the rest. I got my money's worth out of it.

Charles:

Those are everywhere here in the Northeast junkyards, albeit many are picked through and rough.

The 2nd gens are hard to find. I recently found an '80 Pace Car in one of the yards I frequent. It was plopped in about a foot of mud and had been sitting since winter. I salvaged what I could for it. The owner of the yard offered me the car for $500 as is, but I refused. Lacked the original engine, was "claimed" to be a 455 in there now.

I saw the car had a beach permit from Long Island for a few years stuck to the window, so I knew it would be basically dust underneath :).

I took a lot of good parts off that thing :). It had a 400 tach in it, instead of a 301. Joe--ASE Certified Parts Specialist & 10th Ann.Club Tech Director '80 Carousel Red Turbo T/A, 27k orig. Dennis, you finally decided to work your way into 3rd gens huh?

go to CamBird, outside of Youngstown Ohio and see if they still have the 83 Mecham Racing T/A in peices anymore.

Check the part number on it...I've got a blower motor upstairs that I had in my '78 Regal...used for about 2 months, damned-near good as new. The ONLY difference between that one and the one in the Camaro I've got now is that the exhaust vent (where the little rubber tube comes out of) is on the wrong side for the Camaro.

Dump me an email with the part# you're looking for... ( snipped-for-privacy@-SpAmBlOk-hotmail.com ) as I'm almost sure that it's the same blower motor I've got that you want! ;)

If you happen to come across an '85 Berlinetta in your travels...they're getting (*@#IN HARD to find parts for...and I'm hunting for a blower motor relay...which is ONLY available on 84-86 Berlinetta model Camaros....not Firebirds, IROCs, RS's, SS's......(Grrrrrrrr!!!)

If you can do a request on there, over 500 salvage yards will see it. I used to sell a lot of parts thru them to privet customers, repair shops & other yards. Odd ball electrical items were some of the quickest sales. Charles

Try the contact page, parts purcurment. they should let you access it. I no longer have a Salvage License, so I can't sell thru them. Charles
