1992 Ranger fuel unit

Hope this is the correct newsgroup for this post.

1992 Ranger: Do you have to drop (remove) the fuel tank in order to replace / repair the fuel sending unit (pump), or is there an inspection place or other access somewhere ?

Thanks for any and all info.

The 92 shop manual says you have to drop the tank.

Depending on how Mother Nature has treated your truck, it can be quicker to remove the box..... A two post hoist or some burly friends and a dozen beverages would likely work. Don't forget to undo the filler neck and the tail light harness.

YMMV

Which is exactly how I did mine. Really don't even have to pull the bed completely off, just get it past where the pump is in the tank.
