On our last trip, the tire pressure warning light came on. I stopped and took the pressure in each tire and it was above the recommended pressure (tires were warm from freeway driving). After I got back on the freeway, the warning light went out. Periodically it would come back on, then go off about 20 minutes later.
I took the car in for an oil change today and I asked the mechanic if the magnificent computer in the car would tell him which tire was the problem. He said he didn't think so. He also commented that there were a lot of problems with the Ford tire pressure sensors. When he checked the tire pressures, he said the spare tire pressure was about 20 lbs, so maybe that was the problem. Is there really a sensor on the spare? My wife's 2004 Mountaineer didn't have one on the spare.
