97 Ford Explorer - Need New Door Handle

Hi there,

The spring just broke in my 97 Ford Explorer's door handle. It's the front driver's-side outside handle.

Does anyone know where I can get one online?

Thanks, AR

Betterprice than my local dealer by far. Just gotta wait for the Fedex truck fromTN, or somewhere. Send your VIN and what you want and they will respondquickly. Hope the fix is easy, I've got a 97 too.R/Jerry

You have to replace the whole handle, not just the spring.

It's actually usually the piece the spring attaches to, rather than the spring itself that breaks off. Either way, if you want it to be tight again, you'll need to drill the rivets out, and replace the assembly.

There really is no reason to replace it though. The handle still operates just fine, it just lacks the old spring tension that it used to have. Personally, I wouldn't waste the time / money on it !

YMMV
