This is one I have not heard of, so I thought I'd ask your opinion.
I've been experiencing a problem with my brakes. The best way I can describe it is this: When approaching a stop, and coming to a *complete* stop, just about 4 or 5 feet of coming to a complete stop, the vehicle suddenly slides forwards. It's as if you hit a patch of ice on all wheels and slide forward about a foot, then hitting the pavement again and getting a grip on the road. This ONLY happens in the morning on my way to work, and it only happens the first 2, maybe
3 stops I make. After an extensive list of things I wanted the dealer to check out and fix (and it's been there now for 1 week, 1 day), I was informed yesterday that they found a "glaze" on the brake disc's, and so they applied a de-glazer to remove it. He said that could be causing my problem. Although, another dealership that I asked about the problem while having an oil change done, said it could be a problem with the ABS (and yes, I've had my rear wheel speed sensor replaced two times in under a year because my ABS light was flashing). My local dealership, where I purchased the vehicle from, never mentioned ABS. I had to ask, and he flat out said no, it wouldn't cause it. So.... I may be visiting the "other" dealership sometime soon.......
After the life story :-) can someone tell me what the "glaze" is that was apparently on my brake disc's? How did it get there, and is this something normal? Can I "de-glaze" it myself in the future?
Thanks!
Tim
