Re: KYB Shocks?

I also have an Ex Sport and I find the suspension very stiff and jittery over even the smallest of bumps. I'd go for the Bilstein for a smoother ride but still maintaining control. I've heard that for even a smoother ride some have suggested to go with the Monroe Sensa-Trac truck shock.

Does anyone have any experiences with these on an Ex Sport?

I, too have the Edelbrocks. Muuuch nicer ride than OEM!! Give the Edelbrocks some serious thought!

My Edelbrocks lasted about 10-12k miles before they stopped working as they had before (I'm not the only one who had this problem with them). I've switched to the Monroe Reflex shocks. I got about 25k miles out of those before they were replaced (this weekend, with another set of Reflexes).

I agree with this poster. The Edelbrocks work great for a few months and then degrade in performance. Unfortunately, Edelbrock won't replace them even though they're worn out and have a "LIFETIME" unlimited warranty.

I wouldn't spring for the Edelbrocks. Too expensive.

Did you notice that your shocks failed quickly or was it a more gradual loss of performance? Any leaking on the piston shaft? What kind of driving do you do - alot of off road? I have only had the Edelbrocks on for a few months and I am still happy with them but I would be interested in anyone else's experience with durability problems. Thanks.

My driving is all on-road, although I do tend to drive my Explorer hard at times. There was no leaking that I could see when I replaced them.

I don't think leaking has been the problem. What seems to happen is that after 5K to 10K miles the fancy valve inside them just goes to permanent "soft" setting and they are no better then a $25 shock. I tried to get my supplier to replace them and after a lot of stalling around they finally said if there weren't leaking they would not replace them even though they have a "lifetime" warranty. It's damn sure the last edlebrock part I'll ever buy. I put Monroe Reflex on to replace the FAILED edelbrocks and they are far better shocks and no problems so far. Before the Edelbrocks I had Monroe Sensatraks on my

92 and they were almost as good as the Reflex. The only reason I replaced the Sensatraks was because I wanted something a little firmer, which the Edlebrocks were for the first 5-10K. Maybe you will have better luck.

I don't really recall, but I think they just gradually quit working as well as when they were new. The sad part is that the shocks supposedly have a lifetime warranty, which I would take it to mean that when they don't perform well anymore, they would be replaced, but Edelbrock won't replace them unless they're leaking.

I wouldn't buy another Edelbrock product, that's for sure.

When I used to buy Sears shocks with a lifetime warranty, I could just take them in and walk out with a new set.
