scheduled maintenance - coolant

I've searched through the maintenance brochures for my 2001 Explorer Sport and I couldn't find any scheduled maintenance for the coolant except to "check the levels". However, my local dealer says that flushing the system out should be done every 3 years (like in the good old days). So what is the wise thing to do (given that the vehicle is actually 4 years old and only has about 15,000 miles on it) ?

Thanks,

Jean

Replace the coolant. If it hasn't been overheating I would not "flush" it with anything but water and then refill with a 50.50 mix of coolant. Keep in mind that there will be some water left in the engine so figure out how much pure coolant you need to put in to get a

50/50 mix, add that much coolant, and then if it's not full, top it off with plain water.
