Trailer Lights Mystery...Help

I have a 97 V8 w/trailer tow. Hook up the rig Sat morning and....No Running lites, no brake or turn signal lites. Lights on the truck work fine. I can operate all the trailer lights with a seperate power source, so the trailer is A-OK. I also buzzed out the round to 4 in line adapter - OK.

Yes the fuses are ok....But. Here's where I got confused. Fuse # 3 and 7 are the left and Rt stop and turn fuses and they are OK. Owners manual call out a Fuse # 30 for the trailer lites. There is only One contact in that position (not two) Fuse position not used.

By the way.... I checked EVERY fuse in the panel by the door..all good. As are the fuses in the power distribution box.

Anyone out there have a 97 and can verify which fuses and/or relays control the trailer lites. I think a relay has died but cannot locate it. Truck has cost me one nice day on the water and don't want to miss another.

As always any help is greatly appreciated.

Ron, if the ball and/or the receiver are rusted they will not make good contact and your light on the trailer will not work. A good ground is required between the trailer and your vehicule. I spray WD40 ( or any rust inhibitor fluid ) in the receiver to keep the rust to a minimum. Happen to me all the time.

Ground should be thru the harness, not the ball. H
