2001 Taurus LX problem

it?s my dad?s car and iam mechanically inclined, but i figured i?d get opinions for him to see if he can fix it himself or what. Well, here?s the problem:

the check engine light is on the car is real shaky while driving

i dont know if this has anything to do with it but he just got an oil change a few days ago.

thanks in advance for all your advice, and if u need to know more information.. ill go out there and start it up and check what you need.

Was this oil change done at some form of quick lube place? Often in their quest to show you engine parts that aren't related to oil changes they leave electrical connectors and hoses loose and disconnected. It might be worth a trip back to them.

IMPORTANT!!!! Get the codes scanned to find out what the computer says BEFORE letting some Lub Shop Ape loose under your hood. If the engine is running rough it COULD be as simple as a plug wire off - the codes will tell you if it is a missfire, and which cyl. Mechanics cost more than Lub Shop Apes, but in the long run they can end up being cheaper!!!
