84 mark VII rear brakes

Hi Folks, I recently picked up a clean 1984 MK VII. Nice car but it needs some TLC. I've gotten the air suspension and electronic goodies in shape so now it's time to zero in on the brakes and suspension. This weekend I plan on going through the rear brakes. Can someone tell me about the rear calipers? Are they like the later calipers, that need to have the pistons turned as they are depressed? I am familiar with 89 and newer vehicles including the Mark VII and LSC. I was working on heavy equipment when these cars were first on the road so my knowledge of them is vague. Also, where is the diagnostic connector on this car? It's hiding. It is an early EEC-IV with no CEL,(EEC-III?) Lastly, my power mirror switch is kaput, only 20 years! Where's the quality!!. I remember a recall or TSB about replacing the "joystick" type of mirror switch wite the flush mounted type used in later models. Does anyone recall this and what was needed to affect the repair? I recall it entailed some wiring mods.

Thanks, Tom
