So why is it flashing? ====================== Because there is something wrong with the system. It needs to be fixed or you risk the bag not deploying in a head-on collision.

can you count the number of flashes between pauses. these are codes the relate to fault

SRS Fault Codes

Fault codes are flashed by the airbag light. A single flash with a few seconds between it is Code 1. A double flash and a pause is code 2 and so on. The codes are as follows: 1 Flash Drivers airbag failure - or open circuit to airbag (check mylar clockspring connection) 2 Flashes Passenger Airbag failure - or open circuit to airbag 3 Flashes Failure of both airbags 4 Flashes Pyrotechnic seatbelt pre-tensioner failure (Either side) 5 Flashes Drivers airbag failure - System shorted 6 Flashes Passenger airbag failure - System shorted 7 Flashes Drivers crash sensor failure 8 Flashes Passenger crash sensor failure

my airbag light recently started flashing code four. to fix this i left car off for 30 minutes under the seats and the plactic panel between seat and door are wires and connectors, colour coded yellow indicating srs related wiring. i unpluged and pluged them back in and it fixed problem. i have read many places that the connectors are common fault and people even soldered the wires together to stop it happening again.
