another warman hack job

Yes.... could even be the starter itself. The place to start is to make sure

>all connections are clean and tight... by clean I mean shiny... by >connection, I mean the spade, the stud, the nut, any washers... cleanliness >is next to startliness. This is a 20 year old truck, so be sure that the >cheap stuff is right before throwing expensive stuff at it. If it's not >present, I would add a ground from a starter mounting bolt to the battery >negative.

A tech would be performing the tests... a real tech would be performing the tests when the problem is occurring. The original poster isn't a tech and is, indeed, asking for advice.

You offer "volt drop test" with no instruction.... a useless reply to someone who is likley a neophyte....

For the record.... snipped-for-privacy@telusplanet.net works for a reply address. Be sure to send all headers along with the the message body. In Outlook Express, right click the message in the top window..... select "properties".... select the "details" file tab and then click on "message source". Right click and choose "select all". Right click again and select "copy".

If you'd turn your efforts to something a little more constructive, you migh have something.
