fiesta key reprograming or immobilisor removal

ive just been given a s reg fiesta but got no keys so im ganna have to get a new barrel for it the only thing is it has a ford immobillisor fitted was wondering if i change the barrel wether the immobillisor would be dissabled or if not how do i reprogram the new key to work

any help would be great cheers

Hiya,

The 'S' plate seems a bit early to have a chipped key, does the immobiliser just work off the door locks?? Guess you'll find out if you bridge out the ignition and starter circuits at the back of the lock barrel, test meter (or bulb) and a couple of bits of wire required.

the only way around this is to fit a lock set, then go to a dealer to have them reprorammed the early type of immobillser has 3 keys (one red and 2 black) the later type has just 2. S reg is when it changed so i dont know if yours is a 2 or 3 key sytem evan if you do get a barrel lock and key it wont start cos the chip memory is stored in the PCM/ECU
