Ford 100E Group

Just started a Yahoo Group dedicated to the Ford 100E range.

The group and the range covers the Ford Anglia 100E/101E, Prefect 100E/101E, Prefect 107E/108E, Popular 100E/101E, Escort, Squire and Thames 300E/301E commercial vehicles.

All these models are in comon in so much as having either the same monocoque bodies made by Briggs or having the 1172cc Sidevalve engine. The Prefect 107E/108E shared the earlier body of the Prefect 100E/101E, but was fitted with the later Ford Anglia 105E 998cc ohv engine and 4 speed gearbox.

The Thames 300E was the van version, with the Escort and Squire estate/station wagon's being based upon the van. The Escort shared the trim and finish with the basic Anglia and the Squire was the more luxury version sharing trim with the upmarket Prefect.

The range was launched in 1953, revised in 1959 with the launch of the facelifted Anglia renamed Popular and the launch of the new engined Prefect. The range stopped in 1962, with the Popular being replaced with the 998cc Anglia 105E and the ohv Prefect with the Consul Classic.

The group is still in its early days, I am currently working on uploading collected pictures at the moment.

Please join and share photos, technical information/tips, clubs and questions.
