ford Aerostar battery cables

okay since i cant figure out whats wrong with the solenoid..ive decided to just change out the battery cables since they look somewhat worn and dryed out.My question is that the orginal negative cable comes with 3 wires..one thick one that goes down somewhere (i assume the starter?) one small one that connects with a disconectable wire to main wiring..and another smaller cable going to a ground connection on some metal. They sell a 2 wire version at some of the cheaper auto stores and the 3 wire version special order..should i just buy the cheaper 2 wire version and rig a 3 wire to the negative? And..is it necessary for the 3rd wire?

If you don't know what you are doing, use the right part.

Well the reason i ask is cause im guessing the 3rd wire is simply another ground and that the 3 wire cable is like 60 bucks compared to the others that are simply 10 or 15. Dont have a whole lot of money and trying to skimp on things if i can without having to compromise the quality (if i can) dont need shiny expensive things when standard is ok.

ALL the grounds are REQUIRED. If you know how to provide the proper grounding using the cheaper cable - do it. If you don't - get the right part.

I would stick to the one recommended for the car, especially with = electrical parts.
