Is the Expedition based on F150?

Have been operating a full size Bronco for years, and it's still a great truck, but the time will come soon to replace it. Think the Bronco is, for all practical purposes, an ultra-shortbed F150 with a cap. Is the Expediton a F150 in disguise (which is what I would want), or is it more of a hybrid auto-truck? If it is a hybrid, how much of the F150 attributes have been compromised? HH

The pre-2003 Expedition shares some components with an F150, but not as many as the old full size Bronco with the F150 of its era. The rear suspension is different, the frames are different, the 4WD system is different (but similar). The engine and transmissions are shared, as is the rear axle (except for the suspension). The dash and sheet metal in front of the A-pillar are also shared. The 2003 Expedtions doesn't share much with the current F150 except for the engine and transmission. I feel certain they share some parts with the upcoming new F150, but I am not sure how much. I have owned both a 1997 and a 2003 Expedition and liked them both. The 1997 was more truck like than the 2003. If you want an SUV for hauling people and nothing too challenging off road, then the Expedition is clearly the finest SUV you can buy. None of the domestic competition comes close and the foregin jobs that are similar in price are so far in the dust they are invisible.

The F250 light chassis is used to build Excursion and the F150 is used to build the Expedition, but it is the 2003 chassis not the new 2004. If you liked the Bronco you will love the Expedition.
