Re: 1993 Aerostar Valve job needed. HELP!

You get what you pay for.

So you want to pull the engine out since you have some time on your hands? Bet you didn't know it comes out the bottom, not the top. Good luck.

Well, aint we pleasant! Heads are already off (6 hour job) and rebuilt ones are in the back. Just don't have time as we are busy with the in-laws and the holidays. I knew the engine was removed from the bottom the minute I laid eyes on the van. Bottom end of the engine is fine. Top end is shot. Removing the engine is no biggie. Just follow the instructions or flip the van over. Not a problem. Sheesh.

We had the same thing happen with a '93 Aerostar 4L. Valve/cylinder #2 burned out. Same shudder thing in ours, doing 55 - 65 on the highway in OD. Felt like a flat tire at times. Drove in D after we realized what had happened, to keep it from shaking so much...although it was fun to talk and make funny noises while shimmy-ing up the road... like when we were kids and talked through the back of a floor fan in the summer time. :) Have fun working on the van.
