white smoke is sighn of water getting on the piston bad head gasket better watch it
He said he only saw the puff while cranking, meaning that it was probably some condensation or moisture build up in the muffler or tailpipe. White smoke under load would be more indicative of a bad head gasket, not to mention it would run noticably bad.
